As we grow, we rely on individuals to further our mission of providing programs and services to special needs children and profoundly deaf children in Houston. Individuals, groups, businesses, schools and clubs can raise funds by holding events or participating in established events.

Events can include fun runs and walks, bake sales, silent auctions, or other organized activities. Aside from events, you can set-up a booth to raise funds and awareness at a local community event, such as a picnic or festival. The possibilities are endless!

It is very important for Be An Angel to be aware of fundraising events that are being held for our benefit. We will assist you any way we can, but we do not have the capacity to plan, schedule or organize your event. Thank you for understanding our limitations in this situation.

In order for Be An Angel to review your event, please submit your event. We understand that all details for your proposed event may not be available at the time of your submission, but please fill out the form to the best of your knowledge. We will review your proposal and contact you regarding the next steps.

Need a few fundraising ideas?
Jean Day/Pajama Day/Beach Day/Shorts Day

Wearing a suit to work every day can get tiresome. Everyone wants a break from time to time and they’ll probably pay to get one. Work it out so the office allows employees to purchase passes to wear something casual, jeans, pajamas, shorts etc. Have fun with it and come up with themes (beach day, super hero day) A great way to raise money and bring employees closer together.

Fun Run/Walkathon

Organize your group at a park or neighborhood community center. Make sure there are plenty of refreshments for participants and supporters. Entrance fees and general donations can be collected the morning of the run. Offer a sleep-in option for people who may not like early morning exercise, let them pay for every 10-30 minutes they want to sleep-in.

Poker Tournament

Who doesn’t like to put on their sun-glasses and pretend they’re in the World Series of Poker? This Vegas-style fundraiser is a simple, fun way to entertain people for a good cause. Charge a chip fee at the door and award trophy’s or prizes to the winner. Texas state law does not allow actual money to be awarded at these types of events. Make sure there are tables and dealers (who know all the rules to the type of poker being played, usually Texas-hold-em is the most popular).

Car Wash

It’s easy and cheap. People love to get their car washed for a good cause. There needs to be a source of water that you can use. A school, gas station, or church on a busy main road would be a good location. You will need to have all of your own supplies, such as a garden hose, buckets, sponges, towels, and car wash soap. Pick a date for your car wash, and plan a rain date as well. A rainy day would completely ruin your car wash. Make signs for members of your group to hold by the street to bring in the cars.

Bowl-A-Thon

Ask friends, co-workers, and family to participate in a bowl-a-thon. Each person that participates can donate $25 to the group fund. It's fun and a great way to make new friends.

Bake Sale

Dust off those cookie recipes and get to baking! Take them to the office, school, or any organized event that may need a little sweetening!

Potato Bar/Spaghetti Dinner/Pancake Breakfast

People got to eat and these easy, food-themed fundraisers “cater” to that need. The setup and costs are very minimal. Groups need a kitchen and dining area big enough to accommodate the amount of people they expect to participate. Buy all the supplies (or have volunteers donate ingredients or dishes). Offer all-you-can-eat or pay by the plate. Make it a suggested donation or set your prices. Tie it to a bake-sale for people who want some dessert.

Health and Welfare Day/Drive

Advertise a drive or day to collect diapers, wipes, pedia-sure, ensure, Lysol, gloves all types of batteries and anything else a baby might need in its early stages of life.

Bargain Basement Evening Gowns

It’s a perfect fundraiser for high school Prom/Homecoming season. Gather up used (but still in good condition) evening dresses and sell them at a much lower rate than the cost of a dress at retail stores. Help out a family who can’t afford a $100 dress and raise money for a good cause.

Barbeque/Chili Contest

Settle that inter-office debate about whose BBQ melts in your mouth the best or whose chili brings tears to your eyes quicker. Charge a small entrance fee and then charge people who want to taste all the BBQ or Chili a small fee. Give every ticket buyer a vote for which entrée they thought was the best. Winner takes bragging rights for the year!

House Party

A great, smaller fundraiser for people generous enough to open their home and throw a party to raise money. Pick a night to host an elegant evening dinner, a fun, seasonal theme party or even ask guests to come over, grill out and watch the big game. Ask for donations or a sell tickets beforehand or at the door.

Bowl-a-thon

Make it a fun filled family event at the local alley, or class it up a bit and make it a 21+ event with a sophisticated cocktail party added to the mix. Either way, bowl-a-thons are a great way to have fun and raise funds. Call the local bowling alley and see if they’ll give you a free night or a discounted night on its lanes. Charge by the team or by the player. Add a raffle and a silent auction to give the night more potential.

Hot Lunch Day/Forget Your Lunch Day

Hot Pizza, subs or even burgers are a nice change from last night’s leftovers when it comes to lunchtime at the office. Call a local restaurant and ask them about purchasing basic food (cheese and pepperoni pizzas, hamburgers and fries, turkey or ham subs) in bulk. Set up the date and pick-up ahead of time and advertise around the office. Charge enough to cover costs and make a profit.

Death By Chocolate

Come if you dare and forget any dieting. This is a night to splurge. Pick a venue and have volunteers bring their own fudge or chocolate sweets. Charge guests to come in and partake (Chocolate fountains are always a hit). Contests are always fun too!

Dance-a-thon

Break out those dancing shoes—it's time to boogie! A 24-hour dance-a-thon is an easy and fun fundraiser. Ask people to sign up to participate. They can either dance as couples or alone. Then have the participants get pledges from the community. Allow enough time before the actual event for everyone to contact their friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers to sponsor them in the dance-a-thon. Last one dancing wins a prize!

Lock-up

It’s time to kidnap some folks, with their permission of course. Get people at the office or in your group to sign up to be “locked up” for the night. Their only goal will be to call their family and friends to donate “bail money”. This event is fun if people are picked up (maybe by an off-duty police officer) given some silly charges and hauled away.

Rubber Ducky Race

Who doesn’t like a good race? For this event you will want a large number of ducks and a body of water to float them down. A river with a nice current would be perfect. Get a roll of raffle tickets and mark the bottom of each duck with a corresponding number. Use a permanent marker. Sell the raffle tickets and let people know there is a rubber ducky with their number on it. Set up a starting line where all of the duckys will be dumped into the river at once. You may want to find large boxes or crates to dump them from. Encourage people to watch along the racecourse.
