Dear Loyal Be An Angel Friends,
Overwhelming odds can make cowards of us all. With the challenges of this world there is so much to be done, we can easily lose heart and do nothing. Because there are so many children in need, so many to reach, it is easier to forget that God wants to use us to touch those few within our sphere of responsibility. It is always my privilege and honor that in addition to your ongoing faithfulness and support and the dedication of hundreds of volunteers; I will again spearhead KSEV’s 700AM Christmas Fund Drive on the air this year with all proceeds benefiting Be An Angel.
Our 24th Annual Christmas Program is underway and we continue with our journey to provide holiday gifts and other select services to now over 3800 multiply impaired and profoundly deaf students from 262 campuses within fifteen school districts in the Greater Houston area. Your continued investment and support through the years has enabled us to carry on the long-standing tradition of service and we appreciate your consideration again this year.
The children, who benefit from Be An Angel’s Christmas Program and other programs throughout the year, are children who suffer from multiple handicapping conditions and who come from financially underprivileged families. It is ONLY through your generous support that these children are able to experience the joy of receiving gifts during the holiday season. With funds from you, we are able to provide wheelchairs, lifts, barrier-free playgrounds, adaptive equipment, hearing aids, and other select services these children so desperately need. Be An Angel takes NO Federal, State or local government funding. |
A Personal Story from a parent of the children you help…
Debra M. does not talk much about her son’s disability because people’s eyes go vacant and they change the subject or walk away. Her son, William, has a multitude of physical disorders that make him unable to talk, walk, dress or feed himself. Stiff and rigid because of his numerous operations – William is 68 pounds of dead weight. His mother can no longer lift him out of his bed or into the minivan alone. Debra does not complain. Still, she says, “God designed him to be this way”. Other people may think William does not know what is going on, but his mother knows that he recognizes the people he meets and he knows his teachers and therapists too. She knows he is scared to go to the dentist’s office and loves walks and knows every dog in the neighborhood with smiles as they approach their good tidings. Once he said, “Mama, more!” and it gave Debra joy in a way that other parents could not understand… except maybe the many that support Be An Angel. |

We ask that you consider sponsoring a child for $50; any amount that you are able to give is greatly needed and appreciated. We are offering our 2009 Limited Edition Be An Angel bear with your contribution of $100. Moreover, last year many of you donated $150 in order to receive a copy of THE HEART OF TEXAS. By popular demand, we are bringing back the film for the same $150 donation this year. Many people wanted an additional copy to give as a gift, and others who missed out last year wanted to get their copy this year. Since last year, THE HEART OF TEXAS has won numerous awards for best film across the country including best film made in Texas in 2009. Be sure to get your free copy with every donation of $150.

We will never reach them all – that is humanly impossible… one person cannot beat the odds; however, I hope you find it in your heart to help us help the children this year and make a difference.
